Hi,
I am having problems with two pocket doors in my home interior:

1) the first pocket door has been operating perfectly since it was installed in 1996. Recently, however, it seems to have jumped off its track after a moderate bump, and I can't get it back in place. Also, I thought I heard something fall down inside the wall when it was bumped off, so possibly something is broken.
My question: what do I need to do to access the track and roller mechanism to try and repair it? Do I need to remove doorway trim and molding? Do I need to cut into wallboard? Is it possible that the door has, in fact, jumped off the track or is something probably broken?

2) the second door is sliding along its track, but is warped so that the door rubs against the framing along the top. How can I get this door off in order to either fix it or replace it?

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Pocket doors hang on rollers attached to the top of the door that fit into tracks attached to the framing. Maybe one of your rollers came off.
To access them, remove the door trim around them and pull them out. You shouldn't have to tear into the wall.
Use a small prybar or a straight shank punch the size of the finishing nails to sink them, and remove the trim.
You can get replacement rollers.
Good luck!
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the advice. I was able to shine a flashlight just above the door, and I can see that one end has a roller in the track and the other end of the door has no roller connected to it.
Presumably, the roller has disconnected or broken off from the top of the door. I'll follow your directions to get the door off and see what I find.

Hi Mike,
I removed my malfunctioning Johnson pocket door and found that a bolt had come out of one of the wheel sets and, accordingly, one end of the door had dropped. I found the bolt, but I am unclear as to how the wheel/bolt/door_plate mechanism is intended to be assembled. (See the attached photographs of my hardware).
I assume that the nut is intended to clamp the door plate to the bolt head. (Otherwise, there is nothing preventing the door from slipping off the wheel/bolt assembly.) Does that mean that the nut orientation on the bolt, as shown in the attached photographs, is incorrect?

Joe
