We have recently bought a house and are considering putting "locking" laminate flooring over the linoleum in the kitchen. Our main concern is moisture from spills seeping through the seams. We have three small children and have many accidents. We would be using Hush Step laminate pad under the free floating laminate flooring. Has this been found to be a problem with anyone else? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone, anywhere ever, ever, heard of Hush Step? What features does this product offer to make it worth consideration?

AzFred,
"hush step" must be somebody's brand name (read more expensive) for your basic 1/8 inch foam padding.

We were given 2 options for padding under the laminate. The first was very thin foam. The second was thicker and would help with noise the sales person said. The thicker one was the more expensive, but the better one(it was probably 1/8" thick). We were more concerned with spills on the laminate flooring, having small children and all. Thanks for the replies and any more replies would be greatly appreciated.

The most efficient underlay specifications that I've seen are for sponge rubber products. The two that stand out are Silent Walk and Tranquility for my money.
