INSTALLING NEW WINDOWS WITH FACTORY INSTALLED EXTENDED JAMBS. JAMBS DO NOT EXTEND OUT TO FACE OF DRYWALL. THEY ARE SHORT ABOUT 1/8 TO 1/4". IT VARIES, MY TRIM CARPENTER SUGGEST DEPRESSING DRYWALL WITH HAMMER. IS THIS ACCEPTABLE ?

Personally, I like the jambs to sit in a bit, makes the casing "roll" inward slightly and fit tight....but to answer your question, no, I wouldn't go beating up new sheet rock with a hammer.....but that's just me....

Set a table saw blade hieght.. less 1/4" of the trim width........and pass through each molding/ jam side facing up....If your painting then you can also run a bead of painters caulk on the jam and attach another extension........
