I have a kitchen floor that we want to put in new vinyl flooring. We are being the preparation process but I have a problem to deal with. The floor has a ridge that runs across it that is slightly higher than the rest of the floor. This ridge is part of the support beams in the crawl space. Is there anything that can be done inside the house to level out the flooring?
Thanks

is this one of those modular homes that basically comes in two pieces and then its put together on the site?

No, this is not a modular home. It is a home constructed on a crawl space that had some settling a few years back and now there is this small ridge.

You can put down another layer of 3/4" subfloor and shim where required.
Were the floor joists sized correctly?

There are self-leveling compounds that can be used to make the floor flat, taking out dips and sags. Sometimes high points can be helped by sanding them down. Some forum posters have reported removing subfloor and chiseling away the high points on warped joists and beams.
