I installed a laminate tile floor in March 2001 and it began to buckle last week in front of the dishwasher. Needless to say the dishwasher was leaking. I have replaced the dishwasher. Will the floor eventually go flat again? Is there anything I can do to help it go flat again? Thanks.

A laminate floor that has been soaked and the core or substrate swells, when it dries the substrate or cores receeds (shrinks) back to about normal thickness. The problem is the the laminate surface was streached by the swelling and will not return to original shape or location or flatness. The degree that the plastic laminate responds to the drying process varies. So the answer is NO the surface probably will not have a flat appearance again, even though the plank is flat.

It is important to figure enough extra for waste for cuts and to have some extra product on standby in case there is a need for repairs. Water is the Achilles Heel of laminate products.
