How wet should the sponge be when you wet sand and if getting it too wet , does it make the compound weak? And another one if you get the actual dry wall wet does that hurt it? My husband and I are drywalling an addition to our house and would love to have the tips on how to do it!!! I have been reading the forums and have got wonderful advice answered. Thank you for the help so far and the answer to our questions.

The sponge should be damp. Not so wet that it drips. The water will not damage the drywall because it evaporates from the surface pretty quickly. It will not make the mud weak either.
