I have a bookcase double bed headboard that is about 50 years old. In order to use it I must have it fitted for a twin mattress because it will be used in a small room. Is it possible to convert such an old piece to fit a twin mattress??

I don't think the headboard would survive the transformation. I may be wrong. Could you put the headboard against the wall and put the single bed against it longways? Making a sort of daybed/couch effect. It probaby won't be the same dimensions but you could put a small table or planter by it to help balance it.
