We live in a 100 yr old home with a basement. 3-4 times a year hydrostatic pressure forces about an inch of water thru my basement floor. I had estimates to install drain tile on the inside of the basement leading to a sump pump. They ranged from 6,000 to 9,000 dollars. I know it's backbreaking work but I also know I can do it myself , but I need some help with some instructions and some materials i.e. how deep to dig(footing?) ,how large of stone to use and how thick of a bed, do I use any type of screen for the dirt, waterproofing material between the floor and wall and the order of the steps required.

Thank you:)
