Can someone please recommend how to install stair flooring.
I am most likely going to work with 7" X 2' and 7" X 5'
½" engineered flooring and matching nosing.
Every instruction I've read so far suggests nailing flooring down to
plywood treads. Only half of my stairs are on plywood, the other half
on concrete. Wherever I'm installing my floor on the concrete
subfloor in the rooms I am installing vinyl remlings(as moisture barrier) first and gluing wood floor on top of that.
My actual question:
Can I glue my floor on the stairs, directly to stair treads regardless it?s wood or concrete stairs?

Thanks for your advice.

When you are dealing with concrete it gets tough. you will need to seal it for moisture purposes and there are special adhesives that are used when dealing with crete. follow your manufactureres instuctions and you should be alright.
www.woodfloorsonline.com will have alot of useful info also.

thanks Philntoni

Award - the floor manufacturer
is recommending nailing the treads down.
I have a hard time imagining how it's possible. Unless i rise the level of each stair with plywood and then it get realy ugly because of the first and last stair.
I've checked out the woodfloorsonline before and they just like you, recommend to "follow manufacturers instructions"

Well - whai if it doesn't work?

i'll probably end up gluing them all and then regret it.
But it's only THEN
;)

Before proceeding, contact the technical folks at Award. You can go to www.awardfloors.com for helpful installation instructions and contact info. Each manufacturer of laminate floors tends to have their own specific instructions for surface prep and installation.
