I just had the hardwood floor redone in my dining room. It looks fine. Except there is a 3" gap between where the vinyl floors end in the kitchen and the hardwood floors end in the dining room. I'm not sure how to cover up this gap. Any ideas?

PS There used to be carpeting in the dining room. I didn't realize that gap was there until the carpets were up the day before they came to refinish the floors. Contract was already signed.

Use a threshold between the two rooms. There are a variety of woods available. They are generally tapered on each side for the transition between the rooms and are easy to install. Look for them at your local home improvement center.
