Getting a new central unit with gas heater. Is programable thermostat the best way to go, or not. I've heard both yes and no. Thanks!

A program T-Stat works well if your home is well insulated or if you have a proper Size system. If you home is very old and it's hard to keep it's temp, then the Programable T - Stat is not a way to go. If you don't use the set back mode on your t stat, they are pretty good keep a good temp range. not a large swing in Temp. If you want to save some money, you can get a good T Stat at Home Depot. They have a Lux 500, and it's just under $40, and I have one of them for 5 years and I am very happy with it. The recent comsumer report gave Lux "The Best Buy" for it.
