What are the pros and cons of laminate vs. hardwood aver a concrete floor? We have young kids, so we were thinking laminate would stand up better and require less maintenance. What about float-in vs. glued? I hate the 'tinny' sound of the floated floors that I've walked on, but maybe there are better sound-dampening products now?
Thanks

Try a little more research and keep this info in mind. Floating floors may be glued together or glueless assembly. Laminates should not be glued down to the subfloor. There are mixed opinions on glueing hardwood down. The "tinny" sound to which you refer is part installation technique and a bigger part underlayment choice. A sponge rubber acoustic underlay is best but does cost more. There is more research data at my web site (http://www.azfred.com).
