I want to add additional insulation to my finished basement walls. At present these walls have fiberglass insulation between the studs, then vapour barrier, then old wood panelling. Can I secure styrofoam insulation over the panelling and then cover this new insulation with drywall panelling? I don't know if I am setting myself up for problems by having two separate moister vapour barriers by doing it this way.

Hi

I dont see any problem with this idea. While it would be best to have styrofoam against the concrete walls then your fiberglass that would be a hard retrofit. If your basement hasnt had any problems of water or moisture damage i think you can safely go ahead. but if there are any issues be sure to correct them before you spend alot of time and money on this

Hope this helps---Josh
