I have a gas furnace general electric, at least 20 years old my problem is, I put a new air filter in 30 days ago and when I changed it it was still as clean as the day I put it in. The furnace seems to work ok but I think it is rather strange that the filter isn't trapping any dust. can anyone advise me as to if there is a problem with my air return system.
thanks

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make with filters is , they tend to buy the cheapest because they are thrown away. Spend another buck and get one that really filters the air. In your case, could it be that you only have the fan running for short periods of time ? If the system is cooling and heating ok, then the ductwork isok. You either have a clean house or the fan doesn't run long enough to circulate all the air. Put the fan on for a week and see how it looks then.

If you are useing the cheap 50cents fiberglass filters, your not catching much dust at all with them!
You can get a good 3M filters at any hardware store (Home Depot) and 3M make diffrent type of filters for your needs (Health, home, or system)
If you want your home clean too, Run your fan to move the air around and get it filtred all the time.. Not just for 10 minute every hour. By running your fan, your home will have more even temp in the house.

3M isn't the only brand that makes good pleated filters.
There is a few brands that make them!
