I have had an extension done to an existing room. Where the new room begins there is an arch, what i want to know is what is the best way to decorate this area. As the arch blends into the ceiling too.

The best way is asking for an opinion. Now you have to narrow it down to the decoration options:
Faux finishing: expensive, expensive repairs, short life
Paint: more affordable, short life
Wallpaper: Long life, pricy initial investment unless you hang it yourself, long life span
Decorative painting: expensive, expensive repairs, short life
Visit with your local wallpaper store and see what they have to offer. If you want to spend the next 500 years looking at all that wallpaper has to offer on the Internet, visit our pro links page (http://www.wallpaperinstaller.com/pro.html), where we have HUNDREDS of wallpaper manufacturers listed from all over the world.
Best of luck on your decision, but here is my two cents:
Wallpaper is the single most cost effective decorating solution in terms of cost vs. life span available. If you plan on staying where you are for awhile, go with wallpaper. Some real estate types even say that it can increase you home's value. I won't go that far, but it's hard to beat wallpaper's value.

Is there no way that you can post a picture of this archway?? Its very difficult to explain a wallpapering method without one...
