Hi All,

I've just read a post that talks about melamine paint for kitchen cabinets. Since I'm about to refinish dark stained cabinetry, can someone tell me a little more about this product such as brand names, characteristics, etc? Is melamine the preferred finish for kitchen cabinets? Bath cabinets? Thanks

Sturdy,
Melamine paint is for painting melamnie/laminate surfaces, it is not melamine itself. I've seen it but don't remember the brand name.
If your cabinets are real wood you can clean, prime, and simply paint with a quality latex the color of your choice.

Sturdy...have a read on this thread...it is very thorough and several experienced folk have supplied input on it...it's very good...also, the 'search' feature at the top of the page has been very useful for me...this thread is a fairly complete descrpition of and uses for, melamine. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys,

I'm still lining up projects so I'll experiment and see what works best. If BM Melamine can be made to cover, seems the best for chip resistant cabinets and shelves.
