I am getting ready to install a new roll up garage door. The kids in the neighborhood have a penchant for tagging/spray painting anything "new" that they see installed in our alley. In anticipation of their vandalism, I'd like to take a proactive approach and apply some sort of finish to the outer painted surface of the door (metal outer panels shop finished in white enamel) to resist adherance of the inevitable. I thought of trying waxes and "Rain-Ex." Has anyone had any experience with this? It's ok if the paint initially sticks (or runs and then sets up)--I'm looking for something that will make the cleanup easier and help me avoid re-painting the door to cover up the mess.
Of course, my wife suggests that I simply camp out on the roof with a twelve-pack and a garden hose.
Thanks for any advice,
Jim

Here's one site I found on a quick Google.com search. There are likely many others, but the products are not common-place and may be pricey...ask your local paint dealer if he supply more info if his suppliers make such products...here in Toronto, mail boxes are painted with a specialty coating but for your purposes, the higher the gloss, the easier it is to clean off. Also, graffiti remover won't harm it as it would a latex.

Visit the web site at www.dumondchemicals.com and they have a NON SACRIFICIAL Graffiti barrier coating CPU 647 which after being applied to the surface allows for simple removal of new graffiti without attacking the underneath coating. It is a clear product that can be applied over any type paint or coating. One gallon will do about 300 sq. ft and the cost will be about 50 cents per sq. ft.
