when tiling wall behind range with vent hood do I tile up to edge of hood or remove hood, tile under and replace

Remove the hood. What if you or a future owner got a new hood of a different size? That way you'd be able to just slip it in without having to piece the tile.

It's nice to not have a grout joint around the edge of your range hood...it's a dirt collector....if you can get it off...it's less cutting for you.;)
