Hi, I'm a first time user of this board.
Ripped out old carpet and tile of 30 year old kitchen and planning on putting new tile over the entire area.
2 questions:
1. After removing carpet, I see the cement slab has a 1/4 inch (approx .6-.7 cm) crack. What can I do to the cement crack to reduce chances of this cracking my tile?
2. There are nails in the cement to hold down the carpet tack strips. When removed, the cement chips from where the nail was. Should I remove them and do something to the cement to solidify my base before tiling? Can I leave the nails there and let them get 'lost' with the quick set/mortar?
