hello, i was reading about grape hyacinth (plotting fall bulbs out as i buy for spring) and i saw a site that said the foilage is semi to evergreen in some areas. i've never heard that of them. any advice? thank you.

The foliage does come up in the autumn and overwinters above ground - after the flowers fade, the foliage will eventually die back and then the whole process starts over again in October (or so...)

Guess you caould call that semi-evergreen.

thank you. that is nice , it seems i will be able to tell where i put them as i plant in summer and fall. it would not hard for me to confuse myself on that point! i have a carolina jessamine to prune later, and i cant walk by it without thinking of grape hyacinth. lots of them. wish me luck and thanks again.-z.

Hi Z7,

I live in zone 5 and mine stayed green all winter. I'm thankful for anything that stays green in winter here. I sure get tired of our long winters and the old drab gray color of the landscape...Jay
