we bought a house that has the kitchen cabinets painted white. I am wondering is there a way to strip all the white paint off the cabinets and restore them to their natural wood finish?

May I ask if you're certain there is a natural wood finish beneath the existing paint, or just a veneer? If it's solid wood, paint strippers/removers will work, but just what type is allowable in your state, I don't know. Remove all hardware, doors, strip the pieces and refinish. Sounds easy eh? If they're veneer, take great care. Test a spot inside a door and see what you find. Can't advise any further until I know more. Sorry.
