Getting ready to paint three new interior doors (four raised panel solid wood), and seem to remember reading somewhere about a specific painting technique. This technique or process allows the floating raised panels to continue to move. In other words they will contract and expand as required, without splitting or cracking. If I remember correctly, I believe this painting process involved applying something to the panel perimeters prior to painting the door. Any special technique or process that the forum has heard of?

Not sure of the 'floating' solid wood door panel thing friend...if the door is solid wood, it's solid wood...The applied coats of acrylic primer and paint will 'flex', expand and contract, more than an oil finish and this can be advantagious outdoors, in the elements...however, in your case, depending on the type of wood (hard or soft), an oil primer will penetrate better than an acrylic, bonding better, an acrylic topcoat is popular but oils still brush out and flow better and thus give you a better looking end result...hope that helps. :)
