I have scoured my cabinets, filled holes with walnut woodfiller and sanded them off. I'm wondering if there is a product that can help to cover the repair work. They are circa 1970 wood-grain laminate, in other words the laminate is hardy enough not to peel off and is low lustre, but still paper-thin. Any ideas on an inexpensive repair?

I assume you're talking about hiding the repairs you've made, rather than some other repair you didn't mention.

I use artist oil colors for touchup work - replacing the background color and graining. You can topcoat the repairs with an aerosol lacquer (satin).

Thank you so much, that is exactly the kind of info I needed!
