I recently purchased a house. The ceramic soap holder in the shower is attached to the tile and is broken and need replacing. How do I remove the holder from the tile????

What is the best method for test or inspecting the quality of a Ceramic Tile installation. Would tapping the tile for a solid sound be the best test?

Well that would locate any loose tile...but it doesn't give you any other information about the quality of the installation. Knowing the substate underneath and what was used for adhesives would help.
