I have removed old laminate from kitchen countertops. Surface is 3/4" plywood with curved ends. Can I apply thin set directly over the plywood and install ceramic tile? Plywood is in very good shape.

You can but I'd strongly reccomend using 1/4" or 1/2" cement backerboard first.
