Can you cut ceramic tile with a mini grinder and a masonary wheel

Hi
Yes...but it makes a pretty rough cut with a masonary wheel...spend a few extra dollars on a dry cut diamond blade...works great!(don't forget your eye protection)

Is that dry cut diamond blade for a rotary type grinder or the ones you see at Home Depot for jigsaws ? Tried the rotary one meant for ceramic for both Rotozip and Dremel (could only find carbide), and neither of them lasted very long before breaking.Worked great on cement backer though. Minimal pressure and lettinig the tool cut didn't work well for me on ceramic. Any suggestions ? Does someone make a diamond bit for rotary tools ?

Hi
No..it's a dry cut blade for your mini grinder. The one's for the roto-zip or dremmel aren't much good. Home depot has them...usually made by DeWalt.

I used a 4 inch dry diamomd cutter on a 4 inch side grinder, to plunge holes through 12 by 12 tile on a kitchen back splash. First drilled a 3/16 hole in each corner with a carbide drill bit and then used the grinder to cut as deep into tile without going outside the holes. Then proceded to eat out the center with the daimond wheel and nipped the edges with nippers. Holes or rough but will be covered by wall plate. Do wear safety glasses and dust mask when doing this.
