I BOUGHT THIS TV ONE AND HALF YEAR AGO, AND IT WORKED PERFECT TILL LAST MONTH WHEN I NOTICED THE HORIZONTAL STRIPES APPEARING ON THE SCREEN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I WATCH NORMAL TV PROGRAMS, AND THE STRIPES CAN BE SEEN AS FAR AS 30 FEET AWAY. THEY STAY THERE FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES AND GRADUALLY BECOME LESS, BUT WILL NOT COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE?

Good Afternoon. dweng:
Horizontal bars? Think 60 cycle AC from the power line. Sounds like you have a bad filter capacitor (or two) in the low voltage power supply and AC is getting into the very highly regulated DC voltages of the set.

THANK YOU SMOKEY. I WILL LOOK INTO IT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I WATCH DVD, THE SCREEN DOES NOT HAVE ANY HORIZONTAL STIPRES. DOES AC POWER SUPPLY ONLY AFFECT THE NORMAL TV? THANKS.

No, that's a new piece of information you didn't give me. This, then indicates a shielding and ground problem caused by poor solder connections. There was a FAQ about problems with SONY tuners causing all sorts of these problems. Look at
