We bought a house which has a big family room with one bay window, one curved window and two french doors to the deck. I really don't know how to put drapery for this room. We don't like dark rooms and privacy is not a big issue. But having so many windows will make the room colder in the winter without heavy drapery. Also the curved window will let in too much sunshine in the summer afternoon, which make room hot. So any idea what I should put for this room?
Thanks,
Tina

wow ...that is alot of glass..for the cold and sun problem you can look at roller blinds that hide under a valance or full drapes that stack back on the wall to let the light in when needed and cover the black holes at nite. another idea might be roman shades that can be raised or lowered as needed, they can be made in a style ,color, print or solid to fit your decor. It sounds like a nice project to under take. hope this gets you started a bit.

Hi Tina,
Sounds like this will be one beautiful Room! It can be a great adventure if you approach it right. Have you spoken with anyone at any of the showrooms that specialize? Or are you planning on doing it all yourself? There are specialty blinds and shades made just for these type of windows, you shouldn't worry about that.
If I'm allowed to say so, check out ambrosiawindowfashions.com for some ideas, there's a phone number there you can call, ask for Cindy, she's fantastic! Maybe you just need ideas with the draperies part of it from someone who knows draperies.
You can put some top-down-bottom-up pleated shades on those french doors, there's all types of opacities, you can get something lighter, with a pull down that's darker, so you have a choice depending on the time of day, or seasons. For the Bay and curved you can actually put verticals in them where the tracks are specially made for your windows by template. There's also Cornice Boards that can be made any size, any style, any shape. You aren't stuck with just "square made" window products anymore. Hang some drapery down each side, maybe something sheer would be nice? Add a couple of tiebacks, and wala! It really all depends on the style of the room, and what you really like.
I hope you find the idea thats right for you! Good luck! Remember: http://www.ambrosiawindowfashions.com
