I am going to install a laminate floor.
Stupid question # 1, how do I measure to see if I am within
1/16 of an inch every 48 inches ?
Stupid question # 2, if I have to use a self leveling compound
how long do I have to wait until I install the floor over it ?
Thanks,
Mark

Just did this last weekend. I took a 2x4 and checked for dips all around the floor. Used self-level concrete in the low areas. From what I have read here, level is not as important as having a completly flat floor. The stuff I used was walkable in 2 hrs, but instructions said to wait 12-14 hrs before installing floor.
Good Luck

Go to www.doityourself.com/laminate for helpful installation info. Go to www.ardex.com where you can read about self leveling compounds in their Product Catalog.
