I have a 55" Magnavox tv, Recently I have noticed a blue haze. I tried to calibrate using the convergence, and I noticed something odd. As you may know there is a white cross where you need to align to the red cross. This is OK, however when trying to align the blue cross, I can't see it, Nor can I see the word "blue". I was told by a technician that the blue crt needs replacement. Since the repair is very expensive they would profit from this. Is there anything I can do to test it, maybe calibrate it? I need something more than his word and I'm afraid that most technicians would rather replace the crt that to fix it. Thanks

You didn't give me a model number or a model year so I am speculating to give you this answer.

If the set has some years (9-10+) then it is highly possible it is the blue projection tube. This is the life span of a projection TV.
If you need tubes, I would recommend you think about buying a new set.

And, next time, think Mitsubishi. And, no, I have affiliation with the company. They just have the best unit going on today's market.
