I seem to have gotten candle wax on my counter top. I'm not sure what kind of counter top it is. The standard kind I guess. What's that called? Anyway, how can I get this candle wax off? Would the paper towel and iron method work?

People are going to think I'm nutty but I just put some candle wax on my counter to see what it would take to give you an answer that will work. Bingo!!

First, do not put heat to your counter. Is it Formica type? That's standard around here. Heat will cause the countertop adhesive to release and can damage the surface. That's why you are not supposed to set hot pans on it.

Here's what worked for me: Take something plastic, like a credit card, and scrape off the excess wax. It will come up real easy. Spray on a 'little' WD 40. Wipe off. Follow up with a spray on glass cleaner or just use soap and water. All gone!!!

If you had a colored candle and it left a stain in the counter from the candle dye you may need to follow up with a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water solution. Let it sit. Peroxide is a bleach. Then when stain is gone wash off with soap and water.

hello. just two days ago this happened to me: orange candle wax on grey countertop. scaped it up to see an orange stain! Ever heard of soilax?? It is the best multi-purpose cleaner, but hard to find. i got it at a place called hardware city, but they have since stopped getting it in. but anyways, a few wipe ups with that, and no more wax stain.
