I just got this 61'' a few days ago, it is working very well exept for the top quarter inch of the screen. There are black and white rectangles that continualy blink on and off. The afected area varies in width from channel to channel. Any info would be appreciated!

This may have been one of the Phillips/Magnavox sets that was manufactured by Hitachi.

I'm wondering if this isn't a left over "on screen" message left by someone fooling around with the remote control.

Access the clock menu and see if there isn't a command to "Delete or Erase Messages".

there is no sutch comand. I have also noticed the picture seems to be drooping slightly in the center. Any other ideas?

Then, I would speculate that the problem is in the convergence board on the set. The "droop" in the picture leads me to believe that at least one of the convergence IC's may be having problems.

I recommend you call around for some estimates and get the set repaired as soon as feasible. It will get worse before it gets better.

Also interested to note your location. I have family in Salem, Canby, and Yamhill and was in your area recently visiting.
