Entertainment Center: TVs, Stereos, VCRs and DVDs - Unsharp Sony 41inch rear projection TV

I have a 14 year old Sony KPR-41DS1 that has a picture that is not sharp on only part of the screen. About 60 percent of the left side has this problem so if, for example a person walks from right to left they will get less sharp on that left side. Similarly, if there is text on the screen it is somewhat blurry on the left and sharper on the right. I've tried using the registration adjustment to line up the different colors and have noticed that the blue and green lines in the horizontal test line are less sharp on the left side than the right side. The red seems sharper. Is there any way to tell from this symptom what the problem is, and whether it is fixable for under about $200? Thanks,

I perceive your problem to be mechanical rather than electrical. The indications point to a movement of the projection unit. The focal length of the projection is critical and a projector that is not sitting square and true in the cabinet will change the focus on one side.
