Bought a new house - currently have an extension with a concrete base, joists on hangers (roughly 6 inches off concrete). Cheap chip board with Vinyl covering. The floor bounces (hangers and joists old) and I want to get hardwood flooring interlocking boards installed.

In order to do this we need to put in place 18mm flooring board on joists to level off and then 18mm hardwood boards on top. This will mean lowering the joists to accomodate height change. Also I don't want to wait 6-12 weeks for concreting.

My questions (finally !) :

1) What is the minimum space between joists and concrete allowed (UK regulations)

2) How do I replace joist hangers into the walls without damaging the wall integrity.

3) Is there another way of fixing joists (i.e directly on a new DPC on the concrete)
