The TV will only work on the in window. the big screen does work if I push swap on the remote. then the in window goes out. also it turns a dull shade of red. then back to normal. it don't do it all the time 2 or3 times a day.

Judging from your post, you have a PIP (Picture in Picture) feature on your TV.
Considering the age of the unit, the symptoms point toward a bad solder connection in or around the primary tuner. Also considering the age of the unit, I wouldn't recommend putting a lot of money into repairs of this set. The average life of these projection units is only 9-10 years.
