I have a sony S570D dvd player. After about a year and 3 months it won't read any disks. If I place a disk in I can hear it spin up, but it only displays "No Disk". I seen reviews stating this is a common problem. I'd like to try to fix this on my own is someone could tell me what the problem is? Thanks.

Sounds like the laser lens is dirty. First try to use any of the laser lens cleaners on the market. Sometimes this will do the job. If you still have the problem, you will have to get serious. You have to take the cover off and find the laser lens. You will probably have to remove some other little pieces as well to get to the lens. Just take your time and write down what goes where. It's very easy to forget when you go back together. Once you find the lens, use a soft cloth (an old t-shirt or diaper), moistened with some lens cleaning solution, and gently wipe off the lens. Put everthing back together using your list. Nine times out of ten this will cure the "no disk" problem.
