Hi:

I have a light oak dinette table which has been stained with drops of food sauce (cayene papper/vingear based sauce), similar to tobasco red pepper sauce. I keep the table polished with paste wax, and generally these stains fade in a couple of days on their own. However, I am expecting company and would like the table to be clean sooner.

I tried oil soap and a bit more paste wax, to no avail. Can I put salt or baking soda over the stains without rubbing? Would this help?

Thanks!

Tom

Tom:

Don't know if either will do any good without rubbing, but it won't hurt to try. I'd go with the baking soda first - it's the more active of the two.

Thanks, George

Just for the record, I tried baking powder, baking soda, and white wine (separately) and none worked. It will fade eventually though.
