hi there,
i am trying to refinish my first piece of furniture, a table. Threre is a dark patch appearing on the suface. I previously sanded the area and subsequently stained it to try and get the overall color the same. However it has not worked. What should I do?????

Sounds like the dark area was stained by water. You need to bleach out the entire top and stain again for uniformity. Use oxalic acid (available from a good paint store or your home center).
