I have a Sharp VCR XA-505 Professional model that I need to program to record programs for school use. I don't have the remote that came with the unit. I have a Zenith Universal remote that controls some functions. Is it possible to program the vcr without a remote?

Good Afternoon, Need2know:
No, you need the remote control to program that machine and the Zenith won't do it.
Fortunately, I have a counterpart at a Sharp Service Center in New Jersey. I called him and he is going to dig up the information you need as to Model Number of the remote control, etc. Come back a little later on and I will have all the information for you.

Good Afternoon, Need2know:
The remote controller model # is a Sharp RRMCG0038AJSA. the price is $42.40 each.
You should be able to get this from any Sharp Service Center in your area. If you are unable to locate one, come back to visit and I will give you a couple of sources.

There is a "thank you" in order to my counterparts at Tele-Measurements, Inc. in Clifton, NJ. I had this company under contract to the Government for about 15 years and there are no finer bunch of people in this world. A simple phone call yielded the answer to the question about the remote control.
