I was stripping my maple kitchen table. It was going slow so I covered the area with saran wrap and left it to stew. When I came back I noticed several black marks in the wood. It was from steel wool fragments that I'd left on the wood then covered with stripper.
Any suggestions on how to remove these stains? I thought about trying to sand them out or using wood bleach but I haven't tried anything yet.
It's a family piece but since I'm on a tight budget I'm DIY so I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Candi:
Oxalic acid (from your paint store or home center) should remove the marks.
