I have an old, very old (17 years) but I love it, Sony 25" TV that was very unique in its day: it came with its own special pedestal with the basic controls. However, I now am unable to make the picture bright enough, very dark so as to be almost indescernible. Everything else is perfect; I have digital cable.
I fear my picture tube may be dying after all these years in use but hope something else less expensive may be causing the problem. Please advise.
Sony Model #: KV25XBR

Good Morning, RedSuki:
I'm afraid I have to agree with your diagnosis. After 17 years of faithful service, I am afraid the picture tube may be the problem.
However, feel free to click to this site and pay attention to Section 25.20. It will give you some insight on your problem and ways to confirm the failure.
