Another question in regards to my new system that I am having installed.
One company has said they will replace all duct work in crawl space below, including boots and grills. They will use Wire-Flex spiral ducting. Cost for duct work is $2300.
Another company said, no way would they use wire-flex. They said it is too fragile and an animal would simply have to touch it and it would get a hole in it. He recommended Alumi-Flex. Cost for duct work - about $4300.
Difference?
My house is in a suburban area and I don't know how any animal could get under my house, since the only access points are small vents in the side of the house (maybe 12" wide and 4" high, with wire mess covering them). No sign of animals ever being under the house (the house is 35 years old, I've lived there 4).

Without knowing all the conditions and facts to base a decision on...lets use the info you provided and make a equation.
House....35 years old....and no animals todate.
Therefore..............no animals...equals...0000.
Alumi-Flex....Cost for duct work - about $4300.
Wire-Flex...Cost for duct work is...........$2300.
Difference you ask?
................................0000
..............................$4300
........................... - $2300
You save.................$2000
And still no animals............:D
I would recommend you choose the Wire-Flex.
