Does the 12inch toilet rough-in measurment provide enough distance from the studs to account for 5/8"sheetrock or should the drain be center at 12 5/8" from yhe stud wall?

12 inches is a finished dimension. So if you're usind 5/8" sheetrock, your framing should be 12 5/8". But most toilets do allow some space behind, so if you should make a mistake, you would still be able to install it. Remember to add more if using tile
