I've just put up greenboard in my bathroom. Should I put a primer on this before wallpapering? If so, is there a special primer to use, or is primer just slang for "a good coat of paint", in this case?

Their is a special primer. A paint store should carry it.

I would recommend primming the wall first(with paint). That way if you or someone else want's to remove it later it will come off easier. A must is sizing. I'm not sure if I spelled it right but you get my drift. You must size the walls before wallpaper.

I would recommend an oil primer so the paste does not penetrate through the paint. whatever you do, do not put paper directly over the wallboard. You or the next owner will regret it.

Yes, you do need a primer. The primer you need is called Shieldz. Its made by the Zinsser company. This product is both a primer and a sizing all in one. It can be tinted to match the background of your paper (so any seam gaps won't be noticable).

Do not use paint as a primer.

Instead of water, use a paste activator.
