We have a 'blown' ceiling with glitter in it that I want to remove. What's the best way to do this?

You're in for a real job -- The easiest way is a 12" taping knife on a long handle and scrapeing it off. Be sure the carpets are covered with a drop cloth (the cheapo plastic ones are good) and you can roll up the whole works and toss it. Use a filter mask! One thing that can help keep the dust mess down is to load a garden sprayer with water and dampen the cieling ahead as you go.
The real work has now begun. you will have to make sure that EVERYTHING is off, then mud any gouges or low spots that were hidden by the "cottage cheese" sand; prime; and paint.
GOOD LUCK!

I agree with big papa. I would definitely get it wet first. I use a six inch knife because it's a little stiffer. If you want the ceiling smooth you will have to go over every joint and screw hole agian at least once. Then sand.

When I was in either Lowe's or Home Depot the other day, I saw a scraper that had a bag attached to it. It was for the removal of a popcorn ceiling. Should also work for you.
