I have a 4 square home yet the well was placed underneath the back (outdoor) steps. The well was removed and capped. There are old treated beams that appear to support the steps. These are rotting and water leaks through in heavy rains and spring thaws and don't even get me started on the spiders and water bugs! I will be putting in new steps this summer but would like to close off this portion and fill it when I redo the steps.
My question is this...if I use the same type of concrete block to close it, do I need to use rebar to tie into the wall before closing it, or simply block it up and cement it in? Also, is it best to fill in the holes in the concrete block or just use cement to cover the contact points?
Thanks for your help!
