I'm finishing off my basement. 2x4 walls are up and I am about to start with sheetroc. On the ceiling do I need to install 1x3 to the ceiling beams or just attach directly. The light fixtures that are already up(rough) are set on the bottom of the beams.

Attach directly.

Use 5/8" sheet rock so your ceiling does look wavy.

Note: Rent a lift. It makes the job sooooo easy.
