I would like to have a wood-look floor in my master bathroom. I've had mixed reviews on which flooring is best to prevent water damage. Some have suggested that pergo is best, while others suggest that I stay away from pergo in a bathroom. I've seen very realistic wood-look vinyl floor, such as Nafco. Can anyone suggest which wood-look flooring is best for bathroom use?

Pergo is a brand of plastic laminate. It is one of many. All manufacturers of floor covering products offer a range of qualities, price points, and warranties. If you are considering a plastic laminate product, go to www.azfred.com for some helpful info. While the surface of quality plastic laminate products is practically indestructible, excessive moisture can cause structural damage to products with a cellulose or fiber core. There are plastic laminates that have a plastic core. All spills should be wiped up immediately to prevent migration of water. A solid sheet of vinyl has no seams and standing water tends not to result in problems from spills. Moisture that gets under either plastic laminate or vinyl, such as from a toilet leak, may have negative effects on both laminate, vinyl, and subfloor.

The part about an once of prevention is the perfect response to this inquiry. This question looks familiar and I believe a direct response has been made.
