Ive got a cedar sided house and Im looking for a good product to remove the fungus and mold before staining. Im also looking for recomendations on a good stain to use on cedar siding. How often should you stain a cedar sided house? Thanks for advice.

dlangdado,
If what you see on your siding is on the east or north side of the house, you most likely have both mildew and algae.
The proper cleaner for redwood or cedar is oxalic acid. Some of the deck cleaner manufacturers make just what you need. After spraying or brushing on it can be hosed off or 'lightly' pressure washed at about the normal carwash pressure(apprx 500 to 800 psi pressure). Anything stonger can actually tear off the siding if they are the thin cedar shingles. Cedar lap boards can take a bit more pressure.
Any quality oil-based stain with UV protection will probably be your best choice. Some are color stains and some are clear. It's your choice after it has been cleaned. Cedar is quite resistant to rotting and can be left alone for years to weather to a tan or grey color.
