We just bought a home with Pergo floors, but we would like to know a good cleaning solution.

Pergo recommends 1 cup vinegar to 1 gallon warm water. Or, 1/2 cup ammonia to 1 gallon warm water. Acetone or denatured alcohol for the worst stains. Never use soaps, detergents, waxes, oils or products containing these ingredients as they will leave a filmy residue. Always damp mop with a mop squeezed nearly dry. Do a section at a time. Throw an old towel on the floor and scoot with foot to dry and prevent streaks. Go to www.pergo.com to learn more about Pergo maintenance and FAQs.

The suggestions of 12pole are right on for maintenance. If you have a glue version such as Pergo Original or Pergo Select and wish to clean glue residue or haze, you have a different problem and a different solution.

I copied this phrase from twelvepole's response... to me, this is THE most important part of cleaning Pergo floors. You can clean all day long, but if you don't wipe up the streaks, it won't matter.

"Throw an old towel on the floor and scoot with foot to dry and prevent streaks"

my wife the clean freak swears by just warm water at least once a week ( p.s. we have no indoor pets and shoes are left at the door)
